For the past thirty years I have practiced advanced Tibetan Buddhist visualization methods for the cultivation of peace, insight and benign compassion. Now I have developed a new meditation, more suited to westerners, which I call Fast Track Meditation. It is faster and easier to learn than traditional meditation practices and it provides a path to emotional healing as well as the benefits of more traditional practices.
Fast Track Meditation works for rapid growth and healing, and is the most powerful tool I have found for maintaining mental health and well being. I teach it to clients in therapy to speed their recovery process, but it is also most useful after therapy, as an ongoing process of self care. This new meditation is a powerful tool you can use to accelerate change during therapy, and after therapy to maintain health and well being. After the wounds of your childhood have been worked through and you are no longer struggling emotionally, the wonderful journey of self discovery will continue and become a spiritual resource for you on your path.
By practicing Fast Track Meditation you can enter upon a richly rewarding spiritual path of expanding growth that can continue through all of your life. Consciousness expands through self reflection. Meditation is the most powerful tool for self reflection because in meditation you learn to watch the workings of your own mind with an attitude of self compassion, and to come into your unique inner nature.
If you have tried to meditate in the past and had difficulty, you will find that this new method makes it easier to establish a regular practice because the it helps you cultivate an attitude of compassion toward the difficult feelings that inevitably come up during meditation. With these tools you will find that you can meditate more regularly and generally feel less stress.
One way of describing the process of Fast Track Meditation is that the mind is like a pond. Each thought falls like a pebble into the water creating ripples radiating outward from the spot where it lands. With this training, you will learn how to cultivate an attitude of witnessing, or watching the mind. Witnessing is a blameless, non-judgmental attitude. When you can watch your mind without blame or judgment, and without trying to fix whatever is there, then gradually thoughts become less frequent and you are able to let go of each one. Little by little the pond becomes more and more still. This stillness is so sweet and blissful that going into this state leaves you completely refreshed and with a new perspective. It has been shown in recent research that during meditation the release of stress hormones in the brain ceases. Daily meditation creates a habit of stress release in the brain. The meditative state becomes a familiar comfortable oasis of rest that you can return to each day.
You don’t have to be in therapy to benefit from Fast Track Meditation training. However, if you are a survivor of childhood trauma or abuse, or tragedies of adult life, it is recommended that you have individual therapy while you begin your meditation training. I teach Fast Track Meditation as a part of your individual sessions, or in a small group format, usually with 5 or 6 people, so that you will have group support for your meditation practice.
Some events in life cannot be overcome, understood and coped with by yourself. They require you to connect with Higher Self, or Soul, that source of knowing inside you that goes beyond just thinking, or even Focusing toward a spiritual level of awareness. Fast Track Meditation makes possible this connection to the spiritual realm.
In order to maximize the potential for health we must first establish a habit of self-compassion. In Fast Track Meditation we cultivate the art of embracing what is, instead of what we wish was. Once we embrace the truth of our experience change will naturally begin. Then we can start to accept, with compassion and empathy, our human condition. This is the beginning of change, and the foundation of healing.
